Mission
Yaqumo is seeking a researcher with a background in quantum characterisation, verification and validation, able to design and carry out experiments for assessing the performance of neutral atom quantum computers. The presence of unwanted noise on quantum hardware is a key hurdle for practical computation and this role will focus on extracting accurate information about device noise from experimental data.
This role involves designing experiments to evaluate performance metrics, identify correlations and unaccounted noise sources, and provide insights into pathways for improving neutral atom quantum devices. This includes working together with experimentalists to run experiments and to turn measurement data into actionable feedback aimed at improving device fidelities by eliminating or mitigating noise. Furthermore, it includes working with theorists to develop accurate simulations and predictive models for the performance of quantum hardware.
Responsibilities
Design and carry out experiments that identify and isolate physical error mechanisms impacting performance, including systems with leakage.
Quantify device performance with experiments at the physical and logical levels.
Collaborate with experimental physicists and control engineers to improve device performance.
Collaborate with quantum information theorists to translate device characterisation data into models with strong predictive capabilities for device performance.
Develop data analysis tools to process experimental data for benchmarking.
